Firstly I would like to say a big thank you to all our customers during our first year of trading and I wish you all good health and a happy Christmas. With the second national lockdown now underway, many home movers will naturally have questions and uncertainties.
Under the government guidance the property market remains very much open. It’s not quite business as usual but – whether you are buying, selling, renting or letting – transactions can continue to flow subject to strict working practices. Our experience during the first lockdown in the summer means we have a business that can confidently deal with clients’ enquiries whilst doing all we can to keep them safe along with our highly valued staff.
The government guidance allows estate agents to continue to carry out physical viewings and valuations, although we also also offering clients virtual options. Individuals involved in the moving process such as surveyors, home removal companies and contractors can still enter properties.
The housing market in Barnsley has continued to experience remarkably high levels of activity. During Autumn and early winter, properties that have been sold subject to contract (SSTC) were at almost double their number the same time last year, continuing the significant release of pent up demand following the Covid-19 lockdown 1 period.
Many properties being sale agreed at Roebucks have gone to best and final offers. There are simply not enough properties available to meet the demand, meaning it is a great time to book a valuation and sell your home.
Our office is also reporting increased activity in the lettings market with strong tenant demand. We have seen unprecedented enquiry levels for properties. I can only see these rental prices continuing to rise gradually over the coming months meaning it is a good time to invest for landlords with yields expected to rise."
